August 18, 2009 - Chris Whalen, owner of Entourage International Limousines, was elected to the City of Portland Private for Hire Board of Review by his peers. His position is representing the Exectuive Sedan (Town Car) industry in Portland, Oregon.

"This is exciting for me. My peers have elected me to represent their interest to the City. I am confident that we can come together and create a new understanding of our industry to City officials. The Executive Sedan market has been shut out from growth since 2002 and the population of the area has grown by at least 15% which in itself should create more demand for our services."

Whalen says he has heard of drivers who save money by cutting back on maintaining their vehicles, which could make the cars less safe, and by opting for lower-priced, non-commercial insurance.

Last January, after working as a driver for a year, he started his own company, based in Beaverton. But Whalen needed six months to secure the operating permits from the city of Portland for the sedan and SUV in his seven-car fleet, a delay that cost him thousands of dollars in business.
